What am I doing?

I have been struggling to make a successful internet business for a long time now… There is definitely not a way around hard work and perseverance. When I started this journey over 5 years ago I had the unrealistic expectation that if I just learning eventually I would be making money online. That is so far from the truth it isn’t even funny! What I have learned is the following: There are no shortcuts Stop listening to all the “guru’s” Take action Take action consistently Take action consistently on the right things! If you are going through a course, only go through that one course until completion There will always be something that wants to take your focus off of what you are working on and you need to not get distracted. Paid traffic isn’t as scary as you may think Blogging takes forever to build an audience Networking really works Faking it never works For now that is where I will stop with the list, however I think it can go on and on. I plan on just posting on here as a way to document what I am doing, and to hold myself accountable. I know, I know! I said it before! The difference is this time I don’t care if anyone sees it or if the posts are keyword researched or SEO optimized. Previously I was...

2 years and still slacking

What is up people?!?! I cannot believe it has been two years since my last post on this blog. What’s even worse is that it has been 2 years and I am STILL NOT MAKING MONEY ONLINE! It blows my mind to think about how much time I have spent learning about internet marketing; how much time I spent dreaming up these awesome sites that will no doubt make so much money that I can quit my day job. Yet… I am still working the 9-5 grind! That doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon. I recently was promoted at work, I married the love of my life this past July, and my wife and I have been beginning to start a photography business for extra income, plus I love photography. So, where does that leave internet business? Well… I have a lot to report on that. But I think I will save all that for another post. Just know that currently I am working my way through Jeremy and Jason’s Internet Business Mastery Academy (affiliate link) course. This a fantastic course that literally walks you through every step of the process of building an online business. I started in the course back in Aug. of 2012 and had an tough time staying committed to one niche topic. I was a chasing after every new and shinny object that came...

Out of the Funk

I am out of the funk. It incredible how long it has been since my last post. I have been sort of all over the place the last few months, and haven’t paid much attention to this blog. A lot has to do with my full-time job, working on my other blog, and the holiday season came and went. That is going to change for 2013, I am focused and have my priorities in order. I’m no longer stuck in the mud with no direction. I have a plan and I will be posting regularly going forward here as well as my other site, which is my primary means for an online business. I have said before, and still is true, that this blog is more of a journal of my efforts to achieve financial freedom and make money online. I have posted content on my primary blog and have started a Twitter profile, and working on getting a following there. The really great thing is that I am not doing this all blindly, I am a member of Jeremy and Jason’s Internet Business Mastery Academy which a complete membership site with modules and course material to follow that guides you through every step of the process to create a long lasting internet business. The plan for 2013 is simple, stay focused and make progress, everyday! As I mentioned...

You need a favicon!

Don’t Forget the Small Things! You Need a Favicon! You have seen them hundreds even thousands of times. But you may not pay much attention to why they are there, or you may have simply overlooked this small image. A favicon is a tiny 16 x 16 pixel image that is displayed in the upper left corner of your browser, the tabs in the browser, and if you have a site saved as a favorite even in the bookmarks menu. Why is that so important? If you keep your standard default favicon it just screams “NOOB!”  It will be blatantly obvious that you are new to this. It gives you a chance to display an icon that is consistent to your brand.  A visual representation of you or your brand for your audience to easily recognize. Think about all the icons that are easily recognizable.  The image below is just a small selection of the most popular ones. I bet you can tell which company most of the favicons belong to just by the icon. Your site will look more professional with a favicon Don’t just throw up any icon.  Take some time to think about your site, your brand, and how you want your audience to recognize your site when tabbing through their browser, or pulling your page back up in the favorite menu. A favicon will not...
